Welcome to the Pen Pal Wiki Project!

The project page is at Pen Pal Wiki where we try to maintain an overview of how the site works, what is included and where to find things. We discuss improvements on its talk page at Talk:Pen Pal Wiki.

Many pages are written in English just to get things started. Most of the prefixes like Category:, Template: and Help: are in English, but page names can be in any language.

Major Categories:

3. Category:User languages - Languages spoken and written by our current userbase
4. Category:Age groups - Age ranges of our active contributor userbase
5. Category:Translation - Navigation aids for users wishing to write and translate pages
6. Category:Userland - Users who wish to find and become Penpals with other users

1. Template:USERLAND - Placing this template on your User talk page places you in USERLAND and signs you up to be a Penpal.
2. Template:ALL - This lists ALL of the languages we are currently working on. You can add new ones by following the links.
3. Template:Nav all - This provides navigation links to the Categories, Main Pages, Templates, Help pages and translation guides for each language group.

Help:Contents is the main Help page here and is in English... But that will change over time. We rely heavily on Help pages in the MediaWiki Handbook which is available in many languages.

[edit] Pen Pal Wiki

The Pen Pal Wiki project is building a system for managing a large userbase of people from all age groups and languages. We are making a way for people from different cultures, countries and backgrounds to get together and share knowledge and experience in their native language.

At the same time, the Pen Pal Wiki is providing a safe, casual environment where learners and teachers can practice the art of translation and interlingual dialog.

The project also helps build and maintain several PPW parts:

1. A multilingual Main Page and its subpages
2. News and Information via Current events
3. Listings and pages for Schools attended by our users
4. Collaboration with other Wikia groups
5. Other multilingual services through links to Wikipedia and Wikiversity
